B-Logistics, a new division of Thrift Recycling Management (TRM)
(May 1st, 2011)

Effective May 2011, B-LOGISTICS became a new division of Thrift Recycling Management (TRM), a leading online used book seller headquartered in the Seattle, WA area. As a result, B-Logistics significantly expands its capabilities and service offerings, and ultimately the benefits it delivers clients.

NEW SERVICES AND BENEFITS

B-Logistics' library and institutional client experience since 2001 fits well with TRM's strong logistics, operational and software platforms and expertise to support new and improved offerings to you.

  • Logistics - TRM's ten (10) domestic and one international facilities support an opportunity to significantly lower inbound freight costs for client materials. B-Logistics seeks to avoid giving a substantial portion of online sale proceeds to trucking companies, and TRM's established warehouse footprint allows this.
  • Operations - The same 11 facilities support regional efficiencies that allow B-Logistics to provide clients with additional services.
    • For example, many B-Logistics clients (those within a two-hour radius of current and new plants) will be eligible for route pick-ups for only $35 a stop.
    • B-Logistics may also discuss the placement of rolling receptacles at client facilities to aid collection weeding and/or donation receipt processes - reducing labor and materials costs.
    • Clients close enough to B-Logistics' plants no longer have to do any pre-shipment sorting.
  • Software - TRM's software is its greatest asset. TRM's proprietary software defines the market's top tier and allows B-Logistics to expand its sales (from both $ and volume perspectives) on behalf of its clients significantly. Because the book/media acceptance and pricing process is so improved, B-Logistics can 'find value' in nearly everything that is not damaged. Clients may send it all (e.g. pre-ISBN materials, old media types, etc.) and leave the sorting and screening to B-Logistics.
  • Experience - B-Logistics' experience with library, university, school, corporate and institutional clients over the last 10+ years allows it to understand issues important to clients.
  • Charitable Work - B-Logistics and TRM each have long histories with vetted, needs-based nonprofit partners. This translates into more positive action, results and communication for client partners.
  • Environmental Benefits - B-Logistics has always believed that Reuse is the best kind of Recycling. Under that premise, resale of client materials is priority one and charitable donations, priority two. B-Logistics' combination with TRM allows great progress to be made in both of these areas but also supports a paper/plastics recycling program that's a stronger-thanever priority three. Nothing goes to the landfill.

VISION

With the addition of B-Logistics, TRM continues to build its used book/media collection and resale services within all sectors, at all levels and in all regions of the country. TRM's roots are in thrift store relationships, but over the last three years it has placed thousands of outdoor and indoor collection bins across the country. You will likely see these around your community placed in conjunction with TRM's retail partners. Furthermore, TRM developed programs with schools, universities, non-profits, corporations, municipalities, environmental organizations and many other groups. TRM's aim is to be a full-service book/media Community Partner at both institutional and consumer levels.
